Math calculatorMath Equation Solver and Order of Operations
Evaluate numerical math expressions using parentheses, exponents, roots and the correct order of operations.
How to use the math equation solver
Enter a complete numerical expression and select Calculate. The solver follows the standard order of operations: parentheses, exponents and roots, multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction.
Supported notation
Use + - * / ^ %, parentheses, decimals, scientific notation, pi, e, and functions such as sqrt(), cbrt(), abs(), sin(), cos(), tan(), log() and ln().
Examples
- (10-5^2)*(5/(2-9)+9*3)/2
- sqrt(144)+3^2
- 2pi*5
- log(1000)+ln(e)
Order of operations
Operations of equal priority are evaluated from left to right, while exponents are evaluated from right to left. Parentheses can be nested to control the calculation.
Important limitation
This tool evaluates numerical expressions. It does not solve symbolic equations containing unknown variables such as x or y.
