Enter a complete numerical expression and select Calculate. The solver follows the standard order of operations: parentheses, exponents and roots, multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction.

Supported notation

Use + - * / ^ %, parentheses, decimals, scientific notation, pi, e, and functions such as sqrt(), cbrt(), abs(), sin(), cos(), tan(), log() and ln().

Examples

Order of operations

Operations of equal priority are evaluated from left to right, while exponents are evaluated from right to left. Parentheses can be nested to control the calculation.

Important limitation

This tool evaluates numerical expressions. It does not solve symbolic equations containing unknown variables such as x or y.
